In 2004 Basiqair introduced several new low-fare routes from Rotterdam. One of their new destinations was Girona (EUR 29,99 single). We booked the flight for a special fare of EUR 19,99 excl. taxes. Including taxes the return fare was EUR 73,08. Flying from Rotterdam is a pleasure since there are almost no waiting lines for checkin as well as security. After passing though security we could see our aircraft PH-XRX taxy in at 13:25. The one hour turnaround was easily accomplished and we could board the plane through gate 4 at 14:05. Since Rotterdam has not jetties we had to walk over the apron to stand C3 were PH-XRX was waiting. Since our seats were in row 8 we were told to board through the forward airstairs. Seat row 8 happened to be the famous windowless row on a B737, next to the engine. Perfectly on schedule (14:21) we taxied to runway 06 for departure. This is close to the main apron, so we were holding short two minutes later with a departure at 14:26. We climbed progressively to our en route altitude of 11.900 m (FL390). Favourable winds (115km/h) enabled a ground speed of 1000 km/h when we passed Paris at 14:58. After manoeuvering over the mountains near Girona, we landed at 15:54, half an hour ahead of schedule. We taxied to the apron and walked down the air stairs at 16:00.
