This flight was my first night-time departure. The delay in departure was caused by the JFK air traffic being disrupted as a result of heavy snowfall. At 11.26 a Tower Air Boeing 747 skidded off the runway on takeoff and runways were temporarily closed for snow removal. We had to enter a holding pattern before entering the approach sequence.
